About Autscot
Autscot is a conference created by ARGH Scotland, run by and for autistic people.
It is a small, community-led residential event designed to be supportive, inclusive, and neuroaffirming. The programme creates space to connect, share experiences, and learn together, away from the pressures of neurotypical-dominated environments.
Theme
The theme for 2027 is “Community.”
We will prioritise proposals that relate to this theme.
However, we will also consider other topics that are relevant and appropriate for the audience.
What we are looking for
We are looking for presentations that:
- Are suitable for a majority autistic audience
- Can be understood without specialist knowledge
- Are aimed at a Scottish audience: if your presentation contains legislation or policy this must be relevant to Scotland
Academic presentations are welcome if they are adapted for a general audience.
We welcome presentations in non-speaking/alternative formats.
Most participants are autistic. This means:
- The programme is for autistic people, not about autistic people
- Content must be respectful and neuroaffirming
- Presentations must support autistic people and our right to be autistic
We welcome non-autistic presenters, but your approach must align with these values.
We are unlikely to accept:
- Presentations focused only on personal experience
- General “what it’s like to be autistic” talks
Exceptions may include:
- Underrepresented or minority autistic experiences
- Intersectional topics
We will not accept:
- Content promoting a ‘cure’ for autism
- Non-neuroaffirming approaches
You should be able to show that you:
- Have relevant knowledge or experience
- Can present in a way that people will find useful and worth attending
What we expect from you
If your proposal is accepted:
- You must attend and present in person (unless there are unforeseen circumstances). You must inform whether you intend to attend the conference as a residential or day delegate
- Your summary and speaker bio will be published on the ARGH Scotland website
- We may ask for a photo to include with your bio
We may record or photograph presentations:
- You can choose whether or not to allow this
- Your proposal will still be considered if you do not give permission

We will do our best to meet access needs if you tell us in advance.
Presenter offer:
- One discounted residential ticket (if attending the full conference) or one complimentary day ticket if attending as a day delegate.
- This applies per presentation, not per presenter

All proposals will be reviewed by the ARGH Scotland board.
We will notify all applicants whether or not their proposal has been accepted by 20th October 2026.
